Tree Foundation

Stockton Beautiful believes that cutting down trees should be considered an absolute last resort as, proper and timely pruning could add viable years to a tree’s lifeline. Interplanting, in every instance where it is possible to do so, will allow new trees to develop before old ones need to be removed, and, once removed they need to be quickly replaced with saplings.

Recognizing that trees significantly contribute to the aesthetics of the city, improve air quality, act as buffers from wind and noise and provide habitats for birds and shade in the summer, Stockton Beautiful supports the efforts and mandates of the city of Stockton to preserve, renew and expand its urban forest and commends every action taking that direction.

Toward this end, Stockton Beautiful has worked with the City to eradicate our mistletoe problem which is killing so many of our beautiful trees. We have planted thousands of acorns to establish new growth and replenish where needed with the Valley Oak, our native tree.

Our ambitious tree planting program has been available for parks, schools, private properties and the City of Stockton. We have propagated and distributed thousands of trees from acorns to four foot Oaks. Most recently, 52 five foot Oak trees were given to Lincoln Unified School District and planted at several school sites.

To date, we have planted trees all over the City, to name a few – Weber Point, Oak Grove Regional Park, Walton School, Stagg High School, Lincoln High School, Alexandria Place, Lincoln Unified Brookside Farmhouse – take a look around!!
